Astro A50 & A20 Buttons Guide

The Astro A50 & A20 buttons are easy to understand and use so you won’t have a hard time figuring out how to use them while gaming. In this guide, we’ll run through the button on your Astro A50 and A20 headsets and where you can find them.

Astro A20 Buttons Guide 

  • The EQ Modes button is located under the LED indicator light. Using this button, you can toggle between all three EQ modes; Astro, Studio, and Pro. 
  • The Game button is located above the Master Volume wheel. The game button boosts the game audio and gets rid of chat audio. 
  • The Voice button is located just beneath the Master Volume wheel. The voice button works in hand with the game button to boost your audio experience.

A50 Buttons Guide 

  • On the back of the right headphone, there’s the volume dial and power switch.
  • You will also find buttons for toggling the A50’s Dolby sound and EQ presets on the back of the right headphone.
  • The right ear cup has buttons for adjusting the balance between the game and chat audio.

Astro A50 & A20 Troubleshooting for Xbox One

Game Audio

If your audio and gaming systems are properly configured but you still notice you’re not getting game audio, you can try the following troubleshooting tips:

  • Resync the A20 Headset by plugging the headset into the A20 Base Station just as you would if it were charging.
  • Check and confirm that your A20’s Base Station is in XBOX Mode. The XBOX/PC Mode switch is located on the back of the Base Station.
  • Check and confirm that your Optical Cable is properly seated in the “OPT IN” port on the back of the Base Station. This should click into place if properly seated.
  • You can also hard reset your A20 Headset by simultaneously holding down the GAME Button (which is located below the volume wheel) and the EQ Mode button located below the power button.
  • Hard reset your Xbox One by holding down the power button on the Xbox One Console for 15-20 seconds. When the Xbox powers down, you will hear the fans click as it fully powers down.

ACC/Firmware: ALL SYSTEMS

Most A20 headset problems can be solved by running the latest available firmware for both your A20 Headset and Base Station. To update the firmware:

  • Connect your Base Station to your computer via the USB power cable.
  • Set your Base Station to PC MODE using the CONSOLE/PC switch on the back of the Base Station.
  • You will have to launch the ASTRO Command Center available for MAC and PC here by visiting https://www.astrogaming.com/software/software.html
  • Check if the firmware update is available. If available, you will be prompted to update your devices. Continue with the update for your devices as instructed by the onscreen prompts.

Once the firmware updates are completed, you can reconnect your A20 Wireless System to your Xbox One console.

  • Resync the A20 Headset by plugging the headset into the A20 Base Station just as you would if it were charging.
  • If you still having issues after ensuring your firmware is up to date, check that the optical cable has been plugged into the OPT-IN port on the Base Station. You should also check that the clear plastic tips have been removed from the ends of the optical cable tips.

Power A20 HEADSET

Power/Charging issues could be due to a specific component, glitch, or malfunction.

To rectify this:

  • Check that your audio and gaming systems are configured correctly 
  • Resync the A20 Headset by plugging the headset into the A20 Base Station just as you would if it were charging.
  • Disconnect and then reconnect the power cable from the Base Station.
  • You can also hard reset your A20 Headset by simultaneously holding down the GAME Button (which is located below the volume wheel) and the EQ Mode button located below the power button.
  • With the Micro USB cable from the Base Station, connect your A20 Headset directly to your console to charge.

Astro A50 & A20 Troubleshooting for PS4/PS3

Game Audio

If your audio and gaming systems are properly configured but you still notice you’re not getting game audio, you can try the following troubleshooting tips

  • Resync the A20 Headset by plugging the headset into the A20 Base Station just as you would if it were charging.
  • Check and confirm that your A20’s Base Station is in PS4 Mode. The PS4/PC Mode switch can be found on the back of the Base Station.
  • Check that the optical cable has been plugged into the OPT-IN port on the Base Station.
  • Hard resetting your A20 Headset could also help. Hard resetting the headset would require simultaneously holding down the GAME Button (which is located below the volume wheel) and the EQ Mode button located below the power button.
  • You can also hard reset the PS4 by powering off the PS4 via the power button. With the PS4 powered down, unplug the power cable from the back of the PS4 and leave it for 5-10 seconds. After that, plug the power cable back into PS4 and power on the PS4.

Outgoing Voice

If you’re experiencing outgoing voice issues, below are some troubleshooting steps that should help rectify the problem.

  • Check to confirm that your A20 is configured correctly
  • Ensure that the microphone on your headset is positioned close to and directly in front of your mouth.
  • Your settings could be the cause of the issue. Change your A20’s Noise Gate setting to “Streaming.” You can find this setting under the Microphone section in the ASTRO Command Center.
  • Confirm that your A20’s Base Station is in CONSOLE Mode. The PS4/PC switch can be found on the side of the Base Station.
  • Hard resetting your A20 Headset could also help. Hard resetting the headset would require simultaneously holding down the GAME Button (which is located below the volume wheel) and the EQ Mode button located below the power button.
  • You can also hard reset the PS4 by powering off the PS4 via the power button. With the PS4 powered down, unplug the power cable from the back of the PS4 and leave it for 5-10 seconds. After that, plug the power cable back into PS4 and power on the PS4.
  • You might want to try to resync the A20 Headset by plugging the headset into the A20 Base Station as if it were charging.
